6 great reasons to submit your 2010/2011 Tax Returns early
Every January is hectic for us as we process tax returns - but we have now had time to catch our breath and are ready to get stuck into the next lot!   So, as of the 6th April 2011, we are ready and waiting to process your tax returns for 2010/2011.
There are many benefits to submitting your tax return early (less stress being the main one!):

1. Win a bottle of wine if you are the first person to have their tax return submitted to HMRC
2. Know how much your tax and payments on account are in plenty of time to make provision to pay them by 31st January 2012
3. Avoid an unnecessary burden on your cash flow, knowing how much you owe early enough means you start to make provision for it now
4. Have the time to check your Tax Return thoroughly before submission and ensure nothing is overlooked because you have had to rush in order to avoid penalties.
5. Enjoy a stress free 2011 Christmas and New Year!

Our Haverhill occupation is complete, telephone lines, broadband and all! Michael Ford is now firmly ensconced in the MENTA Business and Training Centre at 2 Hollands Road, Haverhill and enjoying his commute to work.

Michael Ford will be joined by Andrew Fish from Fish4Financial Independent Financial Advisors who will offer wealth management advice to compliment the full accountancy and business advice services provided by Paul Donno and Co Ltd.

The eagle eyed among you may have spotted our latest advert and press coverage in the Haverhill Weekly News.  The ‘New Kids on the Block’, features a very dashing Paul Donno, Michael Ford and Andrew Fish. Donning their best ties and sporting big grins, they are a line-up fit to rival even the biggest of boy bands!
We are keen to develop our business in Haverhill and will be marketing our presence in the town tenaciously over the coming months. Budget News

As Chancellor George Osborne concluded his budget speech the Paul Donno & Co Ltd website was being updated with the latest news and views.
All the information on the budget can be found on our website  - from the budget headlines, to in-depth articles on corporation tax, business tax and changes in fuel duty.  
You will also find information on business reaction to the budget. At Paul Donno and Co Ltd we sent out 490 printed copies of our comprehensive budget report, which were very well received by our clients. (unlike the Chancellor’s Budget which hasn’t really changed a lot for most of us!)

8 Top Tips to make Payroll Year End (PYE) simple with Sage

Our payroll supremo Beverley Ballard offers the following practical advice to remove the hassle from Payroll Year End.
* Start preparing your PYE at the end of April 2011
* Check you are using the correct version of Sage – this is vital to ensure that PAYE and National Insurance for 2010/2011 are calculated correctly
* Check that you have adequate supplies of stationery to run Year End. Submitting electronically means you only need P60’s
* If you are required to or intend to submit your 2010-2011 End of Year return electronically via PAYE Online for Employers then you must register on the HMRC website a week before the deadline of 19th May for filing your Employer Annual Return
* If you have Sage Payroll V11, V12 or Sage 50 Payroll 2007, 2008, or 2009 you should install your 2010/11 tax year update CD as soon as you receive it
* If you are running Sage Instant Payroll V11 you must complete your Payroll Year End routines before installing your 2010/11 tax year update CD
* Ensure you back up your payroll data prior to commencing PYE
* Check that you have the Sage PYE update pack – this can be downloaded from Sage.

The payslip calculator is very simple to use – it performs monthly calculations for the 2010/11 tax year on a Month 1 basis, based on a personal allowance of £7475.  All you have to do is enter your gross pay and the numerical part of your tax code.

2nd May – St Nicholas Hospice Care Sumo Run
We are starting to think that Paul and Michael are taking the Sumo Run in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care a little too seriously.  From the amount of food that the pair of them have been consuming recently by the time the 2nd May arrives they won’t need the Sumo suits!

If you want to see our intrepid duo running 3 laps of Haverhill Recreation Park in  blow up suits then come along on Bank Holiday Monday, we’re are sure it will be quite an amusing sight!

18th August 2011 – Black Tie Charity Casino Night
We are now taking reservations for the Black Tie Charity Casino Night to be held at the Purple Mango Indian Restaurant, Sturmer Road.  Tickets cost £25 per head and will include a two course Indian buffet and £5 of chips to play at the roulette and black jack tables.  All profits from the event will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice Care.
